Condition & Description: This small nine-headed scorpion pendant is in excellent condition with a delicate size. It features a thick, lustrous patina and brilliant surface luster. The weathering is heavy, even, and aesthetically pleasing, presenting an authentic and mellow aged crust. The scorpion is vividly carved, majestic and expressive, with natural and even signs of wear. It is beautifully paired with blue enamel glass beads. Its current pristine condition makes it highly suitable for pure spiritual practice. Often used to assist in the practices of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), this piece possesses extremely high spiritual energy.

In Tibetan Buddhist culture, the nine-headed scorpion is a divine creature encountered by Guru Rinpoche during his spiritual practices. Legend says there are nine types of scriptures and eighteen tantric methods for subduing demons. One head of the giant scorpion represents one type of scripture, and one leg represents one vehicle of dharma. The "nine heads and eighteen legs" symbolize these nine scriptures and eighteen demon-subduing methods. Later, Guru Rinpoche transformed this into a ritual implement, often used for subduing evil, protecting practitioners, and removing obstacles. This piece is also adorned with exquisite matching beads, including jade, antique turquoise, and antique agate.
The nine-headed scorpion Tsa-Tsa is considered a rare protective amulet, believed to eliminate diseases, bad luck, and demonic obstacles, keeping evil spirits at bay. In Tibet, it is customary to paint scorpions on doors to ward off plagues and infectious diseases. The nine-headed iron scorpion manifested by Guru Rinpoche is described as a protector who saves sentient beings during the Dharma-ending age. Legend has it that it was crafted by Master Jangchub Dorje following Guru Rinpoche's prophecy, rather than being mass-produced from molds. Therefore, its efficacy far surpasses ordinary Tsa-Tsas. The master prophesied that its future value would exceed gold, reflecting the extreme reverence believers have for its sacredness and miraculous powers.
